Texas summers, like a lot of places, can be brutally hot, so I’ve compiled a few tips to make sure your bedroom is a relaxing retreat from the summer heat! I don’t know about you, but I like it coooold when I sleep…so I’ve found that it’s important to change out my sheets and duvets when the weather heats up. Using the right bedding, fabric, and colors, as well as adding some simple summer accessories will help your bedroom feel fresh and comfortable all summer long.

1. CHANGE TO A SUMMER-FRIENDLY DUVET COVER

 2.REPLACE HEAVY COMFORTERS AND DUVETS WITH A LIGHTER DUVET INSERT

Warm and cozy duvet inserts are a must for the winter, but once the temperature starts to rise, it’s a good idea to change out your comforter/duvet for a lighter, less warm duvet insert…or ditch the duvet all together, and instead use a light quilted coverlet (and move your duvet cover to the end of your bed). I bought these mirrored frames for my bedroom many years ago, and what I love most about them is that I’m able to switch up the prints inside the frames often (and inexpensively) to give my bedroom a new look! I purchased these three floral prints online for a total of $5 and printed them out at home! I love the vintage feel of these prints and thought they complimented my new black and white floral duvet well!

6. DON’T FORGET FRESH (OR FAUX) FLOWERS FOR A POP OF SUMMER COLOR

Finally, you may have noticed that I have flowers in nearly every single room in my house. I love how flowers can brighten any space and make it feel fresh. For summer, choose bright seasonal blooms to bring a pop of color to your space. Also, I am not opposed to using faux flowers. Can you spot which ones are faux in this room? I love using realistic looking faux flowers because I don’t have to worry about changing them out every week. And even though the investment is more to begin with, in the long run, faux flowers are more affordable than buying fresh flowers every week!
