Hey all! I don’t know about you, but I get really stressed thinking about hosting big holiday dinner parties at my house. It’s so much work to get everything prepared…the planning, the cleaning, the cooking! But one thing that doesn’t have to be a lot of work or cost a lot of money is your tablescape! Today, I partnered with eBay to show you how to create an inexpensive Fall tablescape for any of your upcoming holiday dinner parties or family gatherings! Using affordable items I found by searching for the best deals on eBay, I was able to create this entire tablescape for less than $100. Keep reading because I’m going to show you how you can create a beautiful Fall or holiday party for your guests without breaking your budget!

The first step in creating an inexpensive, but beautiful tablescape for your holiday gatherings is searching for the best deals online! Sometimes when you search for a product online, you decide it’s just too expensive and end up passing on it! Well, I have a little tip for you… If you check for the same product on eBay.com, there’s a good chance you can find the exact product you had your heart set on for much, MUCH, less.
This same scenario happened to me when I was searching online for products to use for this year’s Fall tablescape! I found these gorgeous gold decorative chargers that I thought would be perfect for the color scheme I was planning. However, they were really expensive and WAY out of my budget! A few stores I checked online had these exact chargers priced as high as $30 EACH! Well, after searching for the name of the product on eBay, I was able to find them for $39 for a SET of 4! I was so excited…that is a huge savings!
It’s so easy to buy from eBay too! Did you know that 81% of eBay’s inventory is “new” and that 88% of their items can be purchased with the convenient “Buy It Now” option? You can also check out eBay’s Home Decor Sales and Event page for name brand home decor items that are on sale! Shopping for deals on eBay can save you a ton of money when you’re planning your upcoming holiday parties!
I have two sets of hand-me-down plate sets from my grandparents and parents, but I don’t have a large collection of gorgeous or impressive dishes and table decor for every season! The easy and budget friendly solution? I use plastic place settings! These beautiful and expensive-looking gold rimmed plates and gold silverwear are all surprisingly plastic and so affordable! When you add this really pretty vinyl lace-looking placemat (only $14 for a set of 4!), some linen napkins, and a mini white pumpkin on top (these were 75 cents a piece!), you’ve got the makings of a gorgeous and inexpensive tablescape!
What’s great about these gold place settings is that you can easily adapt them for a Christmas tablescape. Swap out pumpkins for some ornaments and tree cuttings and you’ve now got your dining room table ready for Christmas! This formula of layering your place setting…. from the placemats, to the chargers, and plates and linen napkins, to a decorative accent on top, can be used for any holiday get-together, family gathering, or dinner party! And the best part of using plastic plates and silverware? Yep, no dirty dishes! Clean up becomes much easier!
Another way to have an easy, stress free, and inexpensive fall or any holiday party is to use budget friendly store-bought food! You can add these items to whatever you’re making as the main dish, saving you valuable food prep time! I think using store-bought goodies for your guests is not only easier and often less expensive and time consuming, but it also allows for more variety of the food you offer your guests!
I purchased all of these different cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and fruit tarts at my local grocery store for less than $25. You can purchase a wide variety of treats and then re-plate them on your pretty gold plastic plates and chargers! Mix up the desserts or appetizers to create an interesting and unique look! You can also use cake stands (similar here) to add height and visual interest to your food display! Your guests will never know that you didn’t bake these special dishes yourself! 😉
Creating an Inexpensive, yet Impressive Centerpiece
The last step in creating an inexpensive Fall tablescape, is to make your centerpiece really shine! A simple vase full of fall colored flowers would be beautiful, but here I used these affordable velvet pumpkins (similar here, here, or here) to create a dramatic look! I also used clippings from my garden to add greenery to the centerpiece. Like I mentioned above, this tablescape could be easily adapted for each season and occasion. For example, you could use large gold and silver ball ornaments (in place of the pumpkins) with tree clippings to create a budget friendly, but impressive centerpiece for your Christmas tablescape!
I hope you were able to get a few ideas to help you create an inexpensive and stress-free tablescape for your fall gatherings! Thanks so much for supporting the companies that make my page possible! Check out some of my favorite affordable table decor from eBay below!
