Welcome to My Texas House! Thanks for stopping by! My website is the best resource for sources, links, photos, and all the details on my home and the My Texas House brand.
Today I’m so excited to finally reveal my updated patio space! If you’ve been following along for the past few weeks, you know that I embarked upon the painstaking process of stenciling the entire patio surface. We wanted to transform our patio space, but also stay within a small budget! So my husband primed and painted the patio with a gray epoxy concrete paint, and then I went over it with white epoxy concrete paint and a stencil with a tile pattern. It took me about 5 days to complete the painting! While this project was probably the most challenging one I’ve done to date, I think the results were well worth it! And now that I’ve got the whole patio space completed, I think the icing on the cake is the gorgeous new patio furniture that just arrived from Walmart!
I actually planned this whole patio project around the desire to create a comfy space to sit and relax outside. I found this amazing 4 piece conversation set by Walmart’s brand, Better Homes & Gardens, and I knew it would be perfect for my space! Walmart has an amazing selection of patio furniture and decor. Check out Walmart’s DIY & Done page here for everything you need to complete your own patio update.
The Hawthorn Park 4 piece patio set features two roomy chairs with comfortable and plush fade-resistant fabric cushions. They have a super sturdy, woven all-wicker frame. I love the warm tone of the wicker. The sofa can comfortably fit three people and is so comfy! The coffee table, which also comes with the set, has a sturdy steel frame with an embossed wood grain finish. So even though it looks like it’s a wood table, it’s made for long ware and durability!
The patio set is so versatile! You can arrange the pieces any way to fit your needs and patio or deck dimensions. And because of the neutral tones of the cushions that come with the set, you can style it in whatever color palette that suits you! I’ve created several different looks to give you some ideas of how to style this set!
In the first setup, I’ve accented this gorgeous patio set with one of the new Mytexashouse by Orian Walmart exclusive rugs. This is the Grapevine rug and I think geometric lattice pattern fits perfect with this space. The rug is made of polypropylene indoor/outdoor material so it’s made to get wet and is extremely stain/water resistant! Even though it’s a white rug, it can be easily cleaned with just a spray of your hose or a pressure washer!
In this first arrangement, I’ve also included some gorgeous boho chic tassel pillows as well as these inexpensive (only $15!) but high quality lattice pillows all from Walmart! The pots (dotted terracotta vase, dotted ceramic pot), wooden box planters, and black candle lanterns are also from Walmart and are linked in the slider below.
In a separate seating area at the back of our patio we have this gorgeous patio swing! It’s the absolute best spot to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning! In addition to the swing, the faux topiaries and wood box planters are also from Walmart. You can check out the post I did last October on this patio space for Walmart here.
For the second setup of the Hawthorn patio set, I changed the set up a little bit. I moved the sofa off to the side and put the two chairs together. There are a lot of different ways to arrange this gorgeous set!
Next, I changed out the rug under the patio set, this time using the new Jessie area rug from my Walmart exclusive rug collection! I love both rugs in this space and I think both work well because of their neutral tone! I can change out my pillows, florals, and other decor with each season and these ivory rugs will still work with any look!
I’ve also linked the outdoor curtain rods and grommet top curtains we used in this space. My husband installed these curtain rods just as one would install an indoor curtain rod. I recommend getting curtains that stop a few inches off the ground to help prevent any dirt and mud pooling on them. I love how the curtains help soften the look of the space, and functionally, they will be so helpful in providing privacy and protection from the sun (and bugs too).
Here I’ve decked the patio space out with patriotic decor perfect for Fourth of July celebrations! I found these cute $12 red plaid pillows and blue star pillows on Walmart.com.
Here I’ve shown our patio space all lit up at night! I love having these outdoor string lights that I got from Walmart on my patio ceiling! They create such a dreamy and cozy atmosphere!
Finally, I’ll leave you with this before and after look at my patio space. This stenciling project was probably the most labor intensive diy project I’ve done for this house! I will do a complete step-by-step tutorial on exactly what we did to achieve the look of our patio floor, but in the meantime you can check out my story highlight reel called “stenciling” to see my real-time video diy of the project.
I love how the space turned out! Now, we are hoping to go one BIG step further in our backyard….putting in a pool, an outdoor kitchen, and landscaping! ???????????? Fingers crossed that we can start this project sometime later this year or early next year, and we will definitely take you guys along for the ride on that not-so-diy journey! Thanks for stopping by and to Walmart for sponsoring this post!
