One of the biggest reasons why we decided to move from our former home was to have more space for my mom, and also for guests. In our old house, we had 5 bedrooms and each one was occupied by a member of our family. We had no guest room for out-of-state family to stay when they visited! But once my mom’s suite is finished, we will have two extra guest rooms for our family! Today, I’m excited to share one of these new guest rooms which I’ve recently finished decorating with furniture and decor I found at The Home Depot.
My brother got to be our first official guest in our new house this past week and stayed in this guest room. It’s a smaller room than all the other bedrooms in the house due to the original builder of the house designing the space to function as a playroom. In fact, it has a little cubby hole/hideout under the back staircase for the kids (or Jessie) to hangout. I haven’t decided whether or not to cover up the cubby space with a piece of furniture or to leave it open. Until then, we have been storing Jessie’s sofa and toys in the space!

I decided on a beautiful linen upholstered bed from The Home Depot for our guest room. I love the clean lines and the height of the headboard. But best of all, I love the storage underneath the bed! The bed frame comes with the bed so no box spring is needed.

You may remember these lamps from our old playroom. We had used them on top of the mirrored console unit (which currently resides in our new media room). I thought the style and height of these lamps worked well with the new bed. The lamp set is also from The Home Depot.

We also replaced the ceiling fan in the space with this stunning beaded chandelier. You can see we also finally got our new wood plantation shutters installed which we placed in all the kids’ bedrooms as well.
Finally, I decided to use the gorgeous Saltillo rug in this space. I love the look of this rug and the color works so well with the new bed!
