Hey guys! Last month I showed you guys the first phase in my son’s grown up room makeover. I had replaced his mattress, as well as changed out his rug and nightstands. Today, I’m showing the next phase in his room makeover… I’m giving his room a more mature look with a little rustic lake house/cabin inspired update with the help of Walmart.com.

I found some amazing bedding and pillows from Walmart’s coastal style bedroom inspo page to give Jason’s room the rustic lake house cabin look I was going for. The {diamond grid design chambray comforter set} is the perfect light blue/gray color. I love the texture of the raised pattern. The frayed edges of the design gives the comforter great dimension. The under side of the comforter is a soft and smooth cotton percale. The 4 piece set comes with two shams and the white button accent pillow for only $54.

The other accent pillows I added here were also from Walmart! I love the rustic looking fabric combined with the modern print on the {Industrial Pick Stitch throw pillow}. It’s such a high quality pillow for only $29. I also added this {brown faux leather pillow} (it seems to be out of stock on line, so I also linked a similar {brown leather pillow} as well).

As we slowly remove the heavily themed decor from Jason’s room (the Star Wars sign will soon be replaced), I decided to add this farmhouse style herringbone shiplap peel and stick wallpaper. Removable wallpaper is my favorite way to add impact to a room, without the commitment! I love that I can just take this down when I feel like it’s time for a change!

One question I’m often asked is, “how does removable wallpaper work on texturized walls?” I have never had any issue with removable wallpaper on my lightly textured walls. However, there is a product you can buy to prep your walls before installing the wallpaper that will ensure proper adhesion. I’ve never used the product myself, but it was recommended to me by a company that sells removable wallpaper.

The final addition to my son’s rustic lake house inspired room, is this {luxurious high pile, super plush rug}! I love the modern pattern, and that it’s the softest rug ever to walk on…it feels like a cloud! This is the 5×7 sized rug to go with my son’s full size bed. 

The final phase of my son’s room makeover will be removing the final Star War themed items. He still loves Star Wars, but since he’s had this theme in his room since he was 2, both of us felt like it was time for a change. He wants the theme of the artwork in his room to reflect his current interest…engineering, buildings, and roller coaster construction. He says he wants to design roller coasters when he grows up! So the search is on for artwork that fits the bill…no easy task! In the meantime, we are enjoying this new lake house inspired look to Jason’s room and gorgeous bedding and rug from Walmart!
