Welcome to My Texas House! Thanks for stopping by! My website is the best resource for sources, links, photos, and all the details on my home and the My Texas House brand.
Today I’m excited to share with you a big update in my bedroom! I’ve been wanting to change out my bed for a few months. Unfortunately having (and keeping) a white velvet headboard can be quite tricky. Turns out, laying your wet hair against the white headboard begins to leave quite a stain after a while. In addition to that, I’ve had a tufted white headboard in my bedroom for close to 8 years now, so I thought a big change would be fun!
I found this absolutely gorgeous canopy bed at The Home Depot! As I’ve mentioned here many times, The Home Depot has an amazing selection of gorgeous home decor and furniture. Plus, I love that The Home Depot has fast shipping even for large furniture items like this, and offers free in-store pick up and returns! This king size canopy bed is the perfect French Country style piece that I was looking for. It has a slate colored bed frame and a linen colored fabric on the head and footboard. The bed is an amazing price and I think makes my bedroom look even more elegant and grand!
In addition to the new bed, I got this absolutely stunning new blue floral duvet cover and shams. They are from The Company Store collection at The Home Depot which is an amazing line of high quality bedding! I love the soft summer floral pattern and the incredibly soft fabric.
To help you see how I create a luxurious bedding look with tons of texture and layers, I’ve broken down each step to making my bed!
First, I pull the quilted coverlet over my sheets. This layer is mostly to cover up the sheets and our sleeping covers, and give extra texture to the bedding look. My husband and I actually don’t use a top sheet when we sleep and we have separate light weight duvets we use instead so we don’t fight over covers at night!
Next, I arrange all my pillows on the bed. I start with three ruffle euro shams along the headboard. I then place our sleeping pillows in front of the euro shams. These can also go behind the euro shams if you prefer to hide them. After that I place the two king sized blue floral shams followed by the three 22” dotted throw pillows (similar pillows here). And last, I place a ruffle lumbar pillow in the front. I usually place the duvet folded on the end of the bed so I can pull it up on my legs when I’m hanging out on my bed.
To finish off the look of the new canopy bed, I got this gorgeous tulle bedskirt from The Home Depot. A bedskirt isn’t something you have to add with this bed, but I prefer not seeing anything underneath the bed. The black legs of the bed’s foundation is visible from the front of the bed without the bedskirt.
And finally, at the foot of the bed, I placed my favorite linen stools that I also got from The Home Depot. These stools are so versatile and they match the fabric on my new bed perfectly! They also serve as the only way that Jessie has figured out how to get on our new much higher profile bed!
I’m loving the totally new look for my bedroom! Change is good, especially when we’ve been spending SO much time at home the past few months! I hope you love my new bedroom look as much as I do. Be sure to check out all these gorgeous bedroom products from The Home Depot and keep an eye out for “Part Two” if my bedroom makeover with The Home Depot soon!
