Welcome to My Texas House! Thanks for stopping by! My website is the best resource for sources, links, photos, and all the details on my home and the My Texas House brand.
Today I’m sharing with you a space that I’ve never let you guys see before…my driveway area! We have a pretty large curved driveway that leads to our split 3 car garage. We have a large window that sits between the two garages and beneath it there is a lot of unused space. I’ve always thought the area seemed pretty bare and boring from the street. There is a lot of pavers and brick, but not any greenery or visual interest in that space!
So I finally decided to create a fun sitting area in this space with some great products I found at Walmart! Walmart has a huge selection of patio and outdoor decor and furniture. So many things to get your next diy project off the ground. Check my blog post about our back patio DIY refresh with products from Walmart!
The photo on the left above is what our driveway looked like before. You can see there are two different styles of lantern lights here because in addition to adding a sitting area, I wanted to switch out our outdoor lights which were beginning to get discolored from the sun.
I found these new outdoor wall lanterns on Walmart’s website and they worked perfectly in this space. I love the farmhouse look and the scroll top of these lights! My husband was able to easily install them and I’m loving how they give my garage a beautiful new look!
When designing this space, I knew I wanted a simple bench that would work with the exterior colors and look of my house, but one that wasn’t too tall to block the window or stick out too far to block the garage. I found this wooden bench on Walmart for only $169. It’s the perfect fit and the gray wash color works great with the color of our shutters.
Next, I wanted to add a pop of color and some greenery to this area. I found these amazing spiral topiaries at Walmart as well! They came as a set of two! They were the perfect height and love how real they look. I placed them in these wooden planter boxes that were a great color match for the bench and the perfect size!
Shop the space:
I placed these gorgeous faux outdoor trailing geraniums in the planter boxes to add an extra pop of pink. I love the combination of green and pink in this space! To get the geraniums to stay put, I stuck them into styrofoam and then my husband placed a concrete board on top to ensure that everything remains secure!
I found this gorgeous garden stool at Walmart as well. I thought the stool added a touch of whimsy and color, but also thought having a place to put a cup of coffee or drink was a great little addition to the sitting area. I love the gorgeous color of the painted vine design on the stool! So unique!
Lastly, to keep with the green and pink theme, I found these green medallion design outdoor pillows to add to the bench! I also brought in these lattice design pillows from Walmart. Luckily the area is fairly protected from the elements due to the overhang from the roof above, but I will most likely bring the pillows inside when it’s stormy outside!
I’m really happy with how the new front yard sitting area turned out! I think it adds so much to our curb appeal, and the neighbors have already commented that they love the new look! We are excited to have more usable space in the front of our house. It feels like we’ve added a big front porch to our house! We’ve already been using the bench to hang out and watch the kids ride their bikes and scooters down our street!
Thanks to Walmart for sponsoring this post! Make sure you check out all their amazing outdoor and patio products on their website!
