Today I’m excited to share my new traditional Christmas tablescape. Tablescapes are one of my favorite thing to design. They allow me to be really creative and I find that (other than the placement of the silverware) there really are no rules to how a table should look. I was inspired by some gorgeous and affordable items that I found on Walmart.com to use in our dining room tablescape. Walmart has an amazing selection of products to deck out your dining room for this holiday season.
While I love creating tablescapes, I have to admit I had a little designers block when it came to this tablescape. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted the table to look like, gathered all the products, but then when I got it all put together, I didn’t like it. Actually I liked it in person, and hated it in pictures! The products were just not being highlighted and it didn’t work!
So last night, I rearranged things until I got it to look just right! It took some time, but I wanted to show you guys these gorgeous products from Walmart in the best possible light! Designing is an art and sometimes art takes a few drafts before you get the look you’re going for.
Now that I got the tablescape the way I like it, we can start talking the elements of the tablescape. The theme for this tablescape was suppose to be a twist on traditional with a little dramatic and moody flair. While I used the traditional red and green color scheme, I added a dark plate set to give this tablescape a glamorous feel to it.
First, no tablescape would be complete without some sort of centerpiece or runner. For a big family meal at Christmas, I didn’t want a large floral arrangement so stead I chose to have a lot of candles and greenery! I found this beautiful faux garland and the chiffon table runner on Walmart.com. I added some faux red roses and magnolia stems for an even more elegant and dramatic look. Beneath the greenery, I used this pretty tartan plaid runner. I love the pop of red against the green and gold! Finally, I added these hurricane glasses with candles inside to give an extra glow to the table. You can also find some gorgeous gold candlesticks similar to these at Walmart.
For the tablesetting, I started with a beautiful gold scalloped charger. Then I added these dramatic black and gold plates. I wanted something totally different from what I’ve done in the past. This black marble plate set comes in table settings for 4 and also has bowls. And lastly, I added this gold flatwear set from Walmart, as well as these gold trim cups and champagne flutes.
The last element of my tablescape was the top of the plates. I always like to add a little embellishment to add a special touch for my guests, so I found these pretty gold bells and topped it off with a red napkin tied simply in a knot. I could also add a little personalized name tag to this set up. Walmart has such an amazing variety of plates, napkins, flatware, runners and other products to create a gorgeous tablescape for the holidays.
I can’t wait to sit down at this table with my family on Christmas, eat good food, and make special memories. Because that’s why we create these beautiful tablescapes…not just to look at, but to gather around them and share a meal with our friends and family.
Check out all of the products from Walmart that I used in this post. I also included the gorgeous rug, chandelier, table and chairs that are shown in my dining room as well. For the product link, click the picture below!
