When we built this house over four years ago, one of my favorite parts of the home build was getting to pick out the lighting for our home. I loved picking out the tile, flooring, paint colors, etc, too, but I really dove into the process of picking out the lighting. I probably spent several hours every day scouring websites for the perfect chandeliers and pendants. 

When it came to our bedroom however, my husband (and me to a certain extent) was pretty set on the idea that we needed a ceiling fan to keep the room nice and cool. I mean who doesn’t like their room to be nice and cold when they sleep, so you can cuddle up in your covers?! Plus, living in Texas, it’s almost a foregone conclusion that bedrooms will feel hot and stuffy during the summer time. So even though I would’ve loved a chandelier for my bedroom to make it feel more “dressed up”, we ultimately decided on a pretty ceiling fan for the space. 

Well after living in our home now for 3.5 years, we’ve realized that our room runs the coldest in the entire house! It’s always freezing in there!! I’m constantly wearing sweaters in there, even in the middle of the summer. When we tried to turn up the air conditioning so it’s not as cold in our room, it affects several other rooms and makes them too hot! So our room stays roughly the temperature of the North Pole year round!
