Selecting A Christmas Tree and Accessories

For this project, I decided to focus on decorating our play room for Christmas  (aka our teen hangout room since my kids are getting older and don’t have many toys in here any more). I thought this would be a fun area to do for this blogger tour because it would allow me to add some additional design elements that I wouldn’t use in the other parts of my home!  

I chose the absolutely drop dead gorgeous Denali White Christmas tree in the 9 foot size! This tree is so stunning that it doesn’t even really need ornaments or decorations! The warm glow of the LED white lights is just magical. I have been so impressed with the quality and easy of assembly of all of my Balsam Hill trees. In addition to these gorgeous ornaments, I also added the French Country Metallic Magnolia pick set of 12 to add a little more visual interest to the tree.  The beautiful Juliette beaded fringed tree skirt is from Balsam Hill as well. It has a beautiful trim that is reminiscent of a moroccan wedding blanket and a whimsical look that works well with my white tree.  

A beautiful tree like this one isn’t complete without an equally pretty tree topper! I found this gorgeous rose gold beaded star topper on Balsam Hill’s website. It complimented the rose gold ornaments I used perfectly.

Christmas Tree Decorating Tips

When decorating my tree the first thing I do is place the largest ornaments on first. I try to work in triangle, making sure that in each triangle there is a different colored ornament and that the ornaments sit at varying heights.

Next, I fill in any spaces with smaller ornaments. I love working with Balsam Hill trees because the tree limbs are so easy to attach ornaments and are firm when decorating.

The last step of my tree decorating is to add any embellishments. Sometimes I add ribbon, but for this tree I decided to keep it more simple with just a few floral picks.  I did add a lit garland that I had purchased last year to add even more beautiful glow to this winter wonderland. If I do add ribbon, I always cut it into 1 to 2 foot pieces and tuck in the ends to give the appearance of a flowing ribbon, but without all the bulk of the ribbon on top of the tree branches.

Magical Nighttime Views

At night the tree looks even more magical. The glow from the LED lights is so stunning. And when it’s time to turn off the lights at night, the tree has an easy-off switch you just have to push!
