Let the fun begin! Yes, it’s time for us to start packing up this house for our move in a few weeks to our new house. While we have lived in this house for 4.5 years, we have actually moved 7 times in the past decade, and a result have become quite the packing experts! Today I’m sharing a few things we’ve learned to help pack quickly and efficiently, while still keeping everything organized so it’s easier to unpack on the other side of the move.

 

One thing that will be much different this time around is that I’m now a working mom, running my business out of our home AND our kids are at home doing virtual learning. We literally have no time to run out and get packing materials and supplies for our move (not to mention groceries) since we are so busy with business meetings and helping our kids with school throughout the day. So I’m really thankful that Walmart just came out with a different kind of membership, called Walmart +, which offers its members free unlimited delivery on items found in their stores ($35 minimum, restrictions apply). I just signed up for my Walmart + membership last week and it’s already helping me save time and money, and it will be especially convenient during this extremely busy time for our family!

 

If you haven’t heard about Walmart + here are some of the amazing benefits offered to members:

 

Save 5¢ per gallon at Walmart and Murphy gas stations. We have a Walmart gas station just down the road, so it’s super convenient and we save money just by being a Walmart + member! You can check to see if this benefit is available in your area here.

 

Use your phone and the Walmart app to scan your items and check out while shopping in-store at Walmart. It’s contactless and saves you time in line! I haven’t tried this membership benefit yet, but it sounds so cool and will save me so much time!

 

 

I was able to make my first order for delivery using my Walmart + membership this week and I’m already hooked. I wanted to get started with packing my dining room (our least used room), so I ordered boxes, packing tape, bubble wrap, plastic stretch wrap (great for wrapping around your silverware holders) and my favorite…these fabulous and extremely helpful dish packing kits and glass packing kits which are available at Walmart! I ordered all my items late Sunday night and had everything I needed delivered right to my door the next day by 10am!

 

 

 

First, using these dish and glass packing kits make packing up dishes and glassware so easy! You just use a small (14X14X12) box, place bubble wrap at the bottom, and then assemble the kit inside the box! Each piece of dinnerware has its own little packing pouch. No messy wrapping paper, just slide the dishes and glasses right in and place in their slots in the box! It’s quick and amazingly simple!

 

 

Another thing we’ve learned when moving, especially when you have so many people in your household is the importance of labeling and color coding your boxes! When you don’t label properly you end up with boxes all over the house and you can’t find anything! It makes unpacking much more difficult.

 

 

 

I was able to get all of these items delivered free to my door (with a $35 minimum order, restrictions apply) using my free unlimited delivery with my Walmart + membership. To become a Walmart + member it’s $12.95/month or $98/year. The membership pays for itself in just two deliveries a month (based on the non-member $7.95 delivery fee)!
