Hey I'm Erin
Hey guys! The other day, I showed you my media room for the very first time in the 4 years I’ve been doing this! This room was the very last room in our house that we decorated. Up until now, it’s served as our furniture graveyard…a place where my old, tattered furniture was sent to sit and be hidden from guests. We finally got rid of our 15 year old super gross sofas, and all the other junk in here and made room for a room full of new beautiful furniture and fully functioning media room equipment!
One of the reasons we waited so long to get this room ready is because we researched the cost of decking out the media room with all the fancy media equipment, and we just weren’t ready to spend that type of money on a media room! But my husband, determined as he was to get his media room up and running, tried to figure out a way we could get all the media equipment, but do it within our small budget! By doing the work ourselves (well my husband did all the work) I’m going to show you how you can do your own DIY media room and be ready to host family movie nights and game day parties in your own home!

AFFORDABLE MEDIA EQUIPMENT
My husband first found a really affordable {projector} and {projector screen} on Walmart.com! He did a lot of research on both the screen and projector and found that these both were really good quality! Walmart has such a great selection of home theatre equipment.
Our new 100” projector screen from Walmart was only $189. My husband had to assemble the screen, but doing this ourselves saved us tons of money! This screen creates a vivid picture and has great resolution! I’ve linked some other affordable projector screens from Walmart in different sizes since not everyone needs a 100” screen!
Our projector is also really high quality for the price and my husband found it on Walmart.com! My husband even did the wiring for the projector though our ceiling and out underneath the screen himself! Again, we saved a ton of money doing this ourselves!
We haven’t done the full speaker installation yet in the media room, but we found this good quality {sound bar set} at Walmart. The sound is great and I personally don’t need the type of sound system that makes the room shake during movies! I’m sure my husband plans to do a full speaker system in here eventually, but that costs a lot so it definitely can wait!
In all, we spent about $1800 for all our media room equipment! This is just a fraction of the cost of what we were quoted to have it professionally installed!
Media Room Seating
Another new item we added to our media room was this {bar height table and chair set}! I wanted a space for my family and friends to be able to sit, snack on food, and maybe chat or play a board game! I found this industrial style table and chair set on Walmart.com! It comes with 4 chairs, but we decided to use only two since we placed it against the back corner of the media room. The table is sturdy and I thought it went well with my rustic glam style media room!
I also found the perfect media room artwork for my space on Walmart’s website! I was so excited to find these {3}, {2}, {1} canvases because they were the perfect neutral color tone, and were worked with the classic and glam theme I was trying to achieve in my media room. Most of the other media room artwork I had found was really colorful or was too cutesy. These {canvases} are the 35″ size and worked perfectly to line up under the recessed lighting we have in the room.
Be sure to check out Walmart’s huge selection of media room equipment so you can create your own affordable home theatre and watch your favorite show, movie, or game in the comfort of your own home!
