My youngest daughter’s room has been a work in progress since we moved into our house 2 and a half years ago. We decided it was time to give Kayla a vintage style big girl bedroom makeover recently after she started to complain about the comfort of her bed and the desire to have a bigger, “big girl” bed. We purchased this gorgeous vintage “Jenny Lind” style slat bed and coordinating side tables from Walmart.com to give her bedroom a classic, chic, and grown up look.
Have you seen Walmart’s home products recently? Wow! They have majorly stepped up their home decor game! They have such cute, quality home decor and furniture, and I particularly love their affordable children’s furniture product lines. So I immediately though of Walmart.com when I decided it was time to update Kayla’s room. The Rowan Valley furniture line by Little Seeds from Walmart.com gave the sweet vintage feel I was going for in her big girl room makeover!
I can’t believe what a difference a new bed made in this space! This full size Little Seeds Rowan Valley Linden bed was the perfect mix of sweet and sophisticated for Kayla’s big girl room makeover. The bed is really good quality and my husband was able to easily assemble it. And for a full size platform bed, you cannot beat the price! It’s incredibly affordable! Kayla is now loving sleeping on her new big girl bed, and thankfully we no longer have problems with her not wanting to sleep in her room!
I decided to stray from the “matchy-matchy” design style and pick two different styles of nightstands from the same Little Seeds Rowan Valley line at Walmart.com. Having side tables that coordinate, yet not match exactly, brings a little more character to this space and fits in with the vintage chic style I was trying to achieve. I love that both side tables have little drawers and a bottom shelf for books and decor, but that they differ in shape. The links to the two different nightstands are below.
To complete Kayla’s big girl bedroom makeover, I added a feature wall of paper flowers to add visual interest. I also added a colorful vintage look rug, and a mixture of pillows with different textures and patterns to add even more character to her new grown-up looking space! I’m not quite finished with this room, however! I just picked out a new wallpaper for the back wall that will replace the dot decals with a patterned look that will help tie the whole room together! I can’t wait to get it up and show you guys what I picked out. In the meantime, Kayla is enjoying her beautiful new big girl room that fits her sweet, old soul personality to a tee!
